I
was always fascinated by the sounds of machines and machinery and some
years ago I had a dream of being able to hear the sounds of trucks, cars,
motorcycles, locomotives etc from different parts of the world which I had
only seen in books.
Back in 2001 Brian Higdem a good
friend of mine in Washington state, U.S.A. sent me some tape recordings of
his 1960 PETERBILT 281.
After a bit of cleaning up and
editing we put it on to a CD and it sounded quite good. Brian was very
pleased at how well his Peterbilt sounded through his home stereo system,
so with the help of Tony Monaghan we packaged the sound into a marketable
product which is now my best seller; this was my dream becoming reality
which I named Anton’s Diesel Truck Dreams.
As the PETERBILT CD sold customers
asked for different truck recordings so other trucks were sought,
recorded, photographed and added to the catalogue. As the classic truck
recordings progressed some customers asked for cars, motorcycles,
locomotives, stationary engines, farm tractors, aircraft, boats and other
sounds. Some of the requests have been added to the catalogue, some are
still in process and some will be added as soon as the desired vehicles
are found and recordings and photographs are taken.
Within this site you will see CD
front covers of the actual CDs and by clicking on the front covers you
will be able to hear a clip of sound of each respective vehicle, so anyone
who has never heard an AIR STARTER on a truck can click on the 1963 MACK
B61, similarly anyone who has never heard a JAKE BRAKE in operation can
click on the 1960 PETERBILT 281, etc.
All the unique sound
characteristics of each vehicle are present in each CD so every owner,
driver and enthusiast can enjoy the sound that only that particular
vehicle makes. In a time where legislation and shared manufacturing make
all modern vehicles sound similar it is nice to hear the noticeable
differences, some of which are relaxing and some are energetic but still
very pleasing.
This year as well as CDs we will
be offering DVDs of the vehicles that we will be recording in 2005, so as
well as being able to hear the vehicle on CD you can order the DVD and see
it too. The first CD title the 1960 PETERBILT 281 will be available on DVD
too this year and it will be interesting to see if the DVD will be as
popular as the sound CD.
If you don’t see anything that
you like at the moment visit the site again in a few months as new titles
will be added regularly and there might be something that interests you.
